Dayton Revival Music Fest

Supporting the launch of a major regional festival through promotion, logistics, and media

I was fortunate to be involved in the planning and execution of the inaugural Downtown Dayton Revival Music Fest, one of the first large-scale festival events to return to the city in years. With multiple national acts and a two-day schedule, the event represented a significant moment for the local music scene and required coordinated effort across media, promotion, and on-site production.

Working alongside teams from three stations, I contributed from early planning through live execution.

To say the city was excited was an understatement.

What I Contributed

My role spanned several areas of the festival rollout and operation, including:

  • Supporting early-stage event planning
  • Coordinating promotional efforts across stations
  • Managing giveaways and on-air campaign integration
  • Creating targeted social media advertising
  • Assisting with on-stage hosting coordination
  • Handling on-site logistics throughout the event

Large live events demand flexibility, and much of my time was spent moving between responsibilities — solving problems, coordinating communication, and ensuring schedules stayed intact.

I also captured photography during the festival, documenting performers and atmosphere when time allowed. Artists included John Legend, Train, Guster, Rusted Root, Heartless Bastards, and others.

Why This Project Mattered

Festivals of this scale do more than entertain — they contribute to community identity, economic activity, and cultural momentum. Being part of the team that helped bring such an event back to Dayton was both professionally rewarding and personally meaningful.

The experience reinforced the realities of live-event production: long hours, constant adaptation, and teamwork under pressure — balanced by the energy of seeing thousands of people come together around music and shared experience.
