STEM Stars Interview Series

Highlighting the young people shaping the future of science

As part of my volunteer work with Edheads, I created and produced an interview series focused on showcasing young professionals making meaningful contributions across STEM fields. The goal was simple: challenge outdated perceptions that science is dull, exclusive, or reserved for a narrow demographic — and instead present it as vibrant, creative, and open to anyone with curiosity and determination.

I handled the series end to end, including:

  • Interview research and coordination
  • Recording and directing sessions
  • Editing and post-production
  • Episode assembly and publishing

The resulting content featured conversations with rocket scientists, data analysts, engineers, microbiologists, and other emerging professionals, exploring both their work and their personal journeys.

Why This Work Matters

Representation and relatability are powerful motivators for students. Many young learners assume STEM careers are inaccessible — either socially, academically, or economically. This series worked to counter that narrative by highlighting diverse paths and backgrounds, reinforcing that science is not a “boys’ club,” nor limited by socioeconomic starting points.

By focusing on authentic stories and approachable dialogue, the project supported Edheads’ broader mission: helping students see themselves reflected in STEM and understand that meaningful impact in these fields is within reach.

It was a creative and meaningful way to blend storytelling, media production, and education to expand how the next generation sees opportunity.
